|MSTS Tweaks, Utils and Improvements [15 Jul 2004]|

|Description||:||I have assembled this pack of freeware utilities and general improvements to the GUI (Graphical User Interface) of MSTS to provide a quick starter pack for newcomers to the sim. It includes all kinds of fixes, tweaks and generally helpful bits n pieces that I think improve the game, or fix faults. It's also a handy one stop shop download to save you time and effort finding all these commonly used files and tutorials which newcomers seem to ask for at least once a week :)
A pdf format file of posts made at www.train-sim.com and assembled into one document by Rich Garber. A bit old now but still useful, it's a basic guide to getting started in the Activity Editor.
Another short guide to Activity Editing by Darren Mann.
A pdf format file of posts made at www.train-sim.com and assembled into one document by Rich Garber. A bit old now but still useful, it's a basic guide to getting started in the Route Editor.
Stuart Williamson's tutorial on how to modify the camcfg.dat file in MSTS to provide new and more flexible camera angles. A really helpful guide, I wouldn't be without an improved camera set up such as Stuart suggests.
Robert K Guy's Bounding Box Editor v1.2. Used to modify or fix rolling stock length parameters to allow better coupling and uncoupling especially using the front coupler of your engine.
A set of windows to replace the default drivers aids tools in the simulator (e.g. Track Monitor, Switching Aid, etc). By Adam Wojcieszyk it gives a very minimalist set of guides which I personally think is the best set around.
Joe Realmuto's friction calculation tool and support notes. This tool helps the more experienced user to modify the rolling resistance of all rolling stock to provide a more realistic driving experience.
Original author unknown. Three little tools in one. "nologo" removes the MS and KUJU animated startup logos etc. It does not remove files, just changes the registry entry to "0" or "1". "msts-scrz" changes the screen size in Route Editor. The default one is a bit small, this provides greater choice and saves your eyesight. "bk-rem" is for route builders and removes all the backup (.bk) files from tiles, world and main route folder of a route.
A replacement graphic for steam engine exhaust. It does not modify diesel exhaust. By Niels Picciotto.
A second, alternative set of GUI driver aid replacements. These ones are less minimalist and may be more to your taste if you find the really unobtrusive ones in "drvaids.zip" hard to see! By Barry Andrews.
By "How In The World" (the people who brought you "Sky! Conductor 2"), this useful GUI improver changes the 5-visible engine pick list on the activity choice screen to a much longer list, allowing you to see more of what's to choose from.
A fix to correct the bug in the default tsunpack utility provided with MSTS that prevents the user unpacking activity apk files. By Thomas Tydal.
In the default Settle & Carlisle and Orient Express routes the level crossing gates were set to swing the wriong way. This file corrects that error.
None of these files is essential for MSTS to run. All are stand-alone and the user can choose to install all, some or none of them. Full instructions and author contact information is provided with each, or if you get stuck, ask on the forums at www.uktrainsim.com.
